I retired from the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) program on 7/31/2007. I originally joined the ME National Guard on 9/10/1985 as a "week-end warrior" with Montgomery GI /REAP Bill but in June 1988 I joined the AGR program. I could not afford the $1200.00 for the GI Bill so I never had it.
Question: I sent in the application and my DD214 to the VA. I rec'd. a letter on May 9th saying that they had my application but were backlogged and would get back to me on whether or not I am eligible for the new GI Bill. I also served on a tour from Dec 2003 - Mar 2005 active over in Iraq (OIF II).

Looks to me like you would and you need to understand that all of these veterans and active duty are flooding VA with their application. Give them a chance. Can't start college until 1 Aug 09 so you have time to wait.
Do you think I qualify? Appreciate your help.
