I am a batterer/wife beater who was convicted of a misdemeanor. I welcome any stone throwing, but only intend to acknowledge answers to my question.
Is there a way?
I want to join the Navy. A recruiter set me up on a path to get the charge expunged and now I'm only a few months away from that. After speaking to the new recruiter yesterday, he suggested there was no chance in hell. I'm sure many will agree with him, but I'm looking for the needle in a haystack answer that suggests there's hope for me in the Navy. Any success stories out there?
If you're curious, I hit her about 2 years ago and we separated immediately. I would describe the extent of my attack, but it would only sound like I'm minimizing. I took all the steps and followed the programs and have turned things around pretty dramatically since. I dropped the booze about 1 1/2 years ago and am now friends with the mother of my child -I'm confident that she is no longer scared of me, and that she is content with my financial and parental support. I have 50% physical custody of my daughter and love her more than life itself. Please offer me some suggestions.
