Anyone know when the next solicitation for the bahrain billet will be coming out? Im a SN on an 87, and once I finish all my quals I want to get put on this list. How does it work for non-rates? can anyone give me a general idea? has anyone completed this billet or is on it right now?

I went there as a SN back in '03/04. My boat was select and direct over there, so didn't go through the normal volunteer process.

That has all the POC's for you to get in touch with. Also, did you bring this up with your command? I would think your Chief (assuming you have one on an '87) would be able to help you find out all the information. If you do get to go, make sure you get an underway billet because the shoreside job is not nearly as fun.

I've done 2 tours on ashore one afloat, definetely go afloat. More $, higher assignment priority and less time in Bahrain to fall prey to all the "mischief" one with too much time on his hands can get into over there! Good Luck.
