mark76- I would have to disagree with kodiak5bears. Short answer is that it depends on your command. Though the MLEM states that a letter from approved State or Federal agencies may be accepted (so long as you've met all of the CG's requirements), it doesn't say which of such agencies. So again, it's going to be command specific.
kodiak5bears... "for the fun of it?" that's borderline weird.

MARK76; Yes, the CG does accept reciprocity of OC letters from other law enforcement agencies providing the letter states that a full-facial exposure was completed along with a scenario consistent with what most academies, to include the CG, require their recruits to go through. They key is to ensure the letter has the required verbage the CG uses. If it doesn't, get a notarized letter on department letterhead from your training sergeant, attesting to the facts surrounding the OC scenario you went through! I don't know of a command that doesn't allow for this. You should be able to retrieve the message regarding this on the MLEA website or conduct a search on google. It came out about five or six years ago!

Oh, and one more thing. Always follow the guidance in the latest MLEM for details, but nothing has changed since the message was released several years ago! I hope this helps.

AAron; OK, seeing you in this discussion reminded me of something. Remember when those idiot tree huggers did a sit-in at City Hall and the sherrif put a tiny bit of pepper from a cotton swab on each of their faces? Man, they cried like babies, went running out of city hall, and then SUED for excessive force! Good thing they lost, man how many cottons swabs could you soak down in a second or two full face hit??????

Ok, my answer was too simple, I should have said, "I have never seen anyone get a 'waiver'". I guess it can and has happened, but I don't think it is a "normal" thing. Aaron, I am not weird, just like to know if my reaction to OC has changed and it hasn't.

It depends on what I was drinking! But, then again, my rack isn't that far from the deck now, and I don't drink any where near the amount I did back "in the day". quote: Kodiak; I am not sure what your experience is, but it (getting a waiver) is an extremely normal thing!!!!

I will take your word for it, but I haven't seen or heard of it in 20+ years in the CG. GUNZ

Kodiak; When you get a chance, check out the MLEA intranet website. It contains the OC lesson plan, which details this. Additionally, ALCOAST 324/03 specifically states that those receiving OC spray training and full-face exposures are exempt, but still must complete the rest of the PQS training. They also have to furnish their OC training letter from their respective LE agency. This letter then goes in their training record. I hope this helps. The MLEM is ever-evolving and it's tough to stay up on all the changes.

Kodiak;
The reason you haven't heard about it is that most in the CG came in right out of high school and were never in the LE community. Once in, some do become part of CGLE and when they retire, get out, etc., they may go into other LE Fed/State/or local jurisdictions.
CGLE, Marine MPs, etc. are usually stepping stones to other LE careers, not the other way around. So yeah, if you came into the CG with an LE background and got sprayed you would follow the guidance Hammer48 gave you.
I was never in CGLE, but when I got out, went straight into a local police academy (Ke Kula Maka'i, City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii) and got my dose of full face OC there. And, no, I don't need to re-experience that - or seeing snot hanging all the way from your nose to the ground, either.
