Are there any publically available numbers yet or press information on how many workboat, towboat, deepsea shipping, ferry, charter boat, water taxi or any vessels that are required to have licensed or documented mariners, have been boarded and had crew without the required TWIC ????
As their credentials aren't valid without a TWIC, have there been a number of vessels voyages terminated ??? How has the CG handled the movement of vessels once it has been determined that the operators are not legitimate ?? The charter boat fleet in itself must be keeping boarding officers just straight out. Anything ??? as this is such a serious issue with the CG, would like to know just how safe to feel about the security of the US merchant fleet. Or is it just being ignored until some drunk passenger takes a header off a dinner cruise boat and the subsequent investigation nails the baffled small boat operator ?? |

Sir, most of that info would be FOUO, I'd suggest making a call to HQ and asking there.

Thanx,
Will follow up with a letter to NMC. I know of at least 6 people in the Northwest who have been fired / laid off for not having their TWIC in hand. It would be another glitch in the credibility of the CG if this was a scare tactic to the commercial side and people have lost jobs over an issue the CG has no intention of actively enforcing on other licensed ( uninspected passenger vessels & 100 ton tour boats) sides of the marine industry.
