I'm possibly being deployed soon and have considered buying a helmet camera, for more reasons than one. I do a lot of hunting and extreme sports where something like this would have been pretty handy, pun totally intended. Obviously the use of this would be at the commanders discretion. It would be neat, but also look at it from another direction, if you dont have film of it it didnt happen and you cant be UCMJ'd for it.

Carrying more bullets or MREs would probably be a better choice, but I'm a little surprized with the technology available that unit historians are not doing just that. We started videoing much of our deployments in the 80s and 90s for just that reason. Earlier Eras used cameras, both still and movie, for the same purpose since the first of those technologies were invented - witness the Civil War, WW I, WW II, etc. Makes sense to me - -

I've got the same one, works well. Have a helmet mount and have used it mounted on the RAS of the M4

Also, you can YouTube search for clips showing what you are wanting to do.

I have difficulty watching some of the videos because the shooter looses control of the subject by a slight turn of the head and the clips are always bouncy.

I would have some kind of quick release system so you can do hand held shots every now and then.

Me and youtube just don't mix. I, for some reason, can't keep myself from reading the posts and getting really ****ed off for some reason. I think it's best for me to just not go there, like ever. Now them main page I might give a good look at. As for the quick release I have a very nice camera, not sure how many mega pixels it is though, that I'd just use in such situations. I'm picking up a nice little carry pouch from Ranger Joe's to hold the camera.
