Hi i am currently separated from my hubby. I left because he has a crazy money addiction. His first duty station was in korea and i lived with his family with my one yr old son. I had no idea how the army worked at the time. He sent me a about $100 a week and he saved the Bah that whole year he was in Korea. He can get in trouble for that cant he. I could have had my own place but instead he i lived with his family. He is afghanistan now. We were stationed in MO when he left korea and thats when i found everything out. What are the laws on that does anyone know. Plz help. I never had access to any accounts or anything during our marriage. i just wanna kno who is wrong...

I would have the pecan pie.

No, to be serious, you have a problem here.
you need to go to the nearest Post and speak to a Chaplain. Then maybe JAG.
He is getting at least $750 -$1000. a month extra just for your living expenses on top of his salary. He is even getting extra because his deployment requires him to be seperated from his family.

Have you even been in touch with anyone from the FRG?
Even the Rear Detachment should be making contact with you in reference to your well being while your spouse is deployed.

LOL! Maybe he just wanted to keep tabs on you. Doesn't sound like you are/were hurting, other than not having a lot of $ to BLOW.

As long as he is married, does he not still have an obligation to support his dependents?

While they were happily married, he should have given his wife access to enough funds to support herself and their child. Chain of Command should have checked-up on this. But water under the bridge. What's done is done.

With them being separated now, I would have changed the passwords on accounts too. I'd only be paying what is legally required.

ignore Max...he never has anything positive or encouraging to say to spouses. He thinks we're all Commissary Cows and moochers.....

Judge and Matt have great points on this.
Service member is obligated to support his/her dependents. How much...I think technically it's up to the service member, but should be enough to assist in covering basics.
Child support is determined by courts, not military--if that is his child. Doesn't sound like their child, only hers.

Even deployment funds are his to disburse---or not. Everything belongs to the service member, not the spouse, so if he wants to allot her a couple extra hundred while he's gone--or not--his choice.

FRG info should have been kept up to date so that they can keep her informed of happenings with the unit. No info=no contact and frustrated spouse.

Even if they are just seperated, she is still a dependant. She doesn't give up the ID until they are completely divorced. If it goes that far.

Hell, he might not have any money. May have given it all to juicy girls.
