Question- I have worn a black support our troops bracelet for about 4 years now. Same material as the yellow livestrong bracelet. Anyways. Worn this bracelet non-stop in every uniform. While I was in the Air Force and the whole time I have been in the Army. All of a sudden today in PT some newly assigned SFC tells me take it off. Its not authorized. Can anyone clarify this will I go search AR 670-1
3. AR 670-1, PARAGRAPH 1-14A IS CHANGED TO READ: SOLDIERS MAY WEAR A WRISTWATCH, A WRIST IDENTIFICATION BRACELET, AND A TOTAL OF TWO RINGS (A WEDDING SET IS CONSIDERED ONE RING) WITH ARMY UNIFORMS, UNLESS PROHIBITED BY THE COMMANDER FOR SAFETY OR HEALTH REASONS. JEWELRY WORN BY SOLDIERS MUST BE CONSERVATIVE AND IN GOOD TASTE. IDENTIFICATION BRACELETS ARE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: MEDICAL ALERT BRACELETS, MIA, POW, AND KIA (BLACK OR SILVER IN COLOR ONLY) BRACELETS. SOLDIERS ARE ONLY AUTHORIZED TO WEAR ONE ITEM ON EACH WRIST.
I always considered this to be limited to metal bracelets, but I guess it doesn't actually say metal. You could argue it's implied to be limited to metal because it gives "silver" as an option. Either way, 'support the troops' isn't on the list.
Thanks for the answer. Yeah I read this shortly after I wrote it. I appreciate it. Guess its time to retire the bracelet and honor a fallen brother on the wrist.
