Hi Erica, my name's Becky and I'm also a Navy wife. My husband is finishing up A school in the next couple of weeks and then we are heading for Newport News. I have 3 kids and this will be our first duty station. We're still in the beginning stages of trying to find housing, etc. Any advice on the area?

Nice to meet you Becky. What base are you going to? well, i really don't know too much about the area. I have not been here that long. This is also our first duty station. we live in base housing in norfolk. It is not too bad.

My husband's actually going to be stationed out of Newport News, or at least that where his ship is. We are trying to get into base housing, but we were told it's a 6-12 month wait for a 4 bedroom.

Yeah we had to wait a while for housing too. Is his ship in the yards?

Yeah it's in the ship yard. He's assigned to he Enterprise.

I've been here for about 4 years so I know the area pretty well but all of my friends have moved on to new stations But I just signed up on here and I found this post. You know what is crazy? My husband was on the Enterprise for 4 years before he switched to shore duty a year ago. Popular ship!! So if you girls want to meet up sometime I am game!
