I am not a huge contributer to these sort of posts, but Navy pride is at stake here, and I simply cannot allow all the other branches to have bragging rights!

So, I'll start.

I have been a military brat since I was born. both my parents were Navy HMs, and when my father left the Navy after 10 years, he joined the Air National Guard, where he did another 25 years before retiring.

My husband is Johnny_B, who occasionally comes into 'the scary place' that is Miilitary Spouses and Friends and he is an Information Warfare Officer, the guy you can legitimately blame more than the Comms guys when the email on the ships go down, because he can shut it down whenever he needs the sattelite to do secret squirel stuff. You all have my permission to draw a stick figure, give it red hair and a mustache, and throw darts at it when you don't hear from your Sailor for a few days while he is underway. Wink

We are currently stationed in Monterey, but we will be moving in March. we just don't know where yet, because our lovely former detailer neglected to tell his replacemement what was going on, so now we have zero clue where he will be sent next.

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

Been together for 12 years next month and married for 10 1/2. My dh has been in almost 16 years done surface, subs and now air. Wasn't a brat but raised in a Navy town (in Canada) so lots of friends were, plus my dad was at sea all the time (not military, but a sea Captain).

We are currently in San Diego (arrived 1 year ago). Before this we were in Hawaii, Washington and Hawaii.

Hi there!
Been married for nearly 9 years to a great Navy man. Lived in Canada all my life, now I am here is San Diego. Hubby did 5 years on the Lincoln, did 5 years reserves while he completed his degree. Now he is getting ready to start BUDs in November. I still can not believe that he is doing this. I am in awe of him. Yesterday was his first time on the O course... he came home all sorts of beat up, but he could not wait to tackle it again.
Anyhoo, hello!

Ok, here goes---Navy Pride and all that.

Growing up Dad was an Army Reservist, so I had some small sense about what being military meant. Got a better idea when I nannied for my Aunt and Uncle--he was in the Navy and, in fact, my dh's "seadaddy". They introduced us. Living with them gave me a pretty clear idea what being a Navy family meant.

My dh just retired almost 6 months ago as a SKCM after 23 years duty. Interesting fact about him: he posed for the box for the Navy Chief GI Joe doll (sorry, fully articulated action figure) last year. Anyway, I'm very proud of him for being chosen to appear on the box, not once, but three times!

That's was very cool and the artist was kind enough to give him a signed print, which I framed for his birthday. Wonder if anyone can pick him out? I had to buy two of the fully articulated action figures cause he wouldn't let me take his out of the box to play with (they come with three uniforms--who wouldn't want to dress them up?)

Been married to him 21+ of those years. The adjustment has been interesting, to say the least. He is ready to leave it all behind, I'm not necessarily ready.

Our children are older, Navy brats all their lives. We live in an Army town, so they both work on the Army base. They are making the adjustment just fine.

I work in contracting for the Navy's nuclear reactor program, so I still have my foot in the Navy's door, so to speak.

Ok, that was boring enough, I suppose. Wink

OK! I'll play too!!! Happy Seabee wife here! Go Navy!

My grandfather was AirForce AD, my brother was Army Reserve and I'm a former Marine of 6 years.

My husband has been in for 14 years and we've been together for almost three of them, just married in May. All of the almost 3 years has been on recruiting, where we met. My office was two doors down!

I haven't faced a deployment yet, but I'm sure you'll know when I do! Have handle recruiting well, atleast I think I have. Razz

We have a total of 4 kids, 2 boys (15 & 9), 2 girls (11 & 6).

Daddy - The hippo smelled my back!

When hostess says you don't need to bring anything - always qualify with "why do you have a Keg?"

Go Navy, Beat Army (British, US, Austrailian what ever so long as the Pongos get a kickin'!!)

Male Spouse, 2 kids, wife a METOC assigned to the center here in Norfolk and working with the USS KEARSARGE, ex navy (UK) myself, Supply Officer for 13 years so have some strange perspectives on this whole military spouse thing.

FYI - Pongo, where ever the Army goes the PONG GOES!!

Ahh but subs have emails now, try doing it when they didn't have it as an option only when they pulled into port. Let's just say over 90 days between contacts. Boomers are definitely better for families than Fast Attacks are, they (boomers) stick close to their schedules.

I'm at Bangor. I didn't think there were any other IA's from NBK other than my wife. She went over with one other single sailor but I think they got split into two different units. I have only heard of one other that has gone.
