I would go ahead and start writing letters now and then whenever you do get an address you can write him. That is what I did and I sent a ton of letters when I finally got one. It could take a little bit before you get an address. I got a hey I got here phone call, and yes I did look at the time and it was 53 seconds and the next one I got was a few weeks later I believe. Depending on how long he is in reception before he gets to a unit also depends on when he gets his address. Just hang tight, remember that in basic training if one person messes up, then he can lose his priviledges as well and don't expect letters all the time from him because he will be extremely busy and extremely tired. But don't let that stop you from writing him, he will need that to keep him going. They really look forward to letters from home. So it could take a little while, but I am not sure exactly when. My husband had a unique experience in basic so I don't know how it works the normal way, LOL. My husband was stuck in reception for almost 8 weeks, which doesn't happen all the time so don't worry, there was a mix up in his papers and all other stuff that is why he didn't have a slot in a class, so it was a while before I got an actual address. Just hang in there and start writing now so you can already have letters ready when you do have an address!!

I started writing right away when my husband (then fiance`) went to boot. Then I just sent them all once I got his address.

One tip - number your envelopes so he can read them in order. I did this all the time, including deployments. It is common for them to not get mail for a bit and then get 10 letters at once.

If you number them, then he will understand some things you may say better. Nothing like reading a letter saying something like "the baby is fine now and doing great" and have him wondering what the heck happened to the baby. Then he's digging frantically through letters to find out what happened. Smile

My son is at Fort Leonard Wood now has just recently graduated bootcamp and is in AIT now to be a MP. You will get a letter with the address not to long after he gets there. Actually, I was surprised we have had great communication with him. He got phone calls every Sunday and sometimes we got to talk for an hour and sometimes if they did good we got a call on Friday night. There was just one week we didn't get a call.

Shondra, Is he going active duty? If so, they can send him anywhere, including overseas, for his first duty station

My husband is also at Ft Leanord Wood. I couldn't believe how long it took to get an return address! I see that you posted your comment on the 15th, and that was the same day I thought I was going to lose it. Luckily the address came the next day. I had started writing letters the day he left with pictures and stories of our little boy. I had 5 letters to mail by the time we got his address. I don't know about you but it made me feel so much better knowing that I could finally send letters full of our love and support. Keep your fingers crossed they get a phone call this weekend. :-)

I haven't gotten a second letter from my bf. He's been in basic training for about 4 weeks now. I got my first letter from him but he was in reception so there was no address. He said when they get to their permenant place and when they get their mailing address he would send it to me but its been three weeks since i got the first letter. Im waiting for his second letter with his address so I can send him all the letters I wrote him while I'm waiting. Will one come soon? and how long? Im trying to be patient thats all i can do.
