You keep taking it until and unless it becomes clear that it can't/won't be passed. Some units adhere to a strict 3 chance rule, some don't. If they ultimately can't pass, then they get discharged for failure to adapt.

While in BCT, they get put into a remedial PT until he passes.

Don't worry he'll be okay. My bunny wasn't a runner either and at 32 years old his body wasn't cooperating. He didn't pass the first time as well.

Thanks for that he is 30 and I just felt so bad for him it made me want to cry. He is working so hard so that he can serve our country he really does love the army.

When my husband decided to join the Army he weighed about 260 lbs and maybe could have run to the mailbox. He's now in the 170s and still struggles with his PT - he failed it either 3 or 4 times when he was in Basic, he didn't pass it until about 3 days before graduation (talk about a panic attack!). I don't remember him going into remedial PT in Basic, (he did later) they just kept testing him. Eventually he passed! Just encourage him to keep working his hardest, he'll hopefully get it.

My husband went to WTC in Aug. He's in his 40's. He has never ever been a runner. The kids teased him horribly before he left. I have no idea how he managed to pass. When he called to tell me, I actually asked him if he had taken a short cut. So he just got to a new base this week for additional training. He found out they run 6 miles for PT. This should be interesting......lol

My bad.

I'm sorry, my bunny said remedial PT happens usually during AIT.

But in BCT they have to pass the final PT test in BCT in order to graduate.

The first 2 are usually diagnostics tests to see where you are at that point in time.

Just continue to encourage him like everyone has said.

I just prayed very very very hard for him to pass.

thank you so much for your prayers. He rebroke his foot so the doc doesnt think healed right. anyway so they are going to go ahead and let him graduate conditional that he pass his pft when he heals. What a blessing Praise God.

If he broke his foot he will become a hold over untill he passes that PT test in order to move forward. I was a holdover for several months when I broke my ankle. If it takes 1 month to heal then he stays 2 months after that before he leave unless rules has changed since 90

Scheuerm, you aren't crazy. I leave for Ft Jackson 20091103 and will celebrate my 40th birthday in BCT. How many people get to say they did that?

I had people who thought I was nuts also and even some who were surprised that I passed the physical even though I have done a lot of hard physical jobs most of my life.

Work hard, never quit and shake off the haters when you prove them wrong!

I leave in a few days and I am 40. The hardest part has been the training so far for me. I pushed myself so hard I have gotten a few injuries. I was never a runner before either, but now my normal runs are 5+ miles. I could probably run at least 8 or more miles now. When I took my PT test at drill it would have been about 250 had it counted. It does not count until I go to BCT. I think a lot of older guys can do the same stuff that 20 years ago most could not.
