Hello everyone! I didn't know where this question should go. Sorry if there was a better place. Here is our situation. My husband extended aboard his last ship several years ago and that added a year to his present enlistment. Called an "obliserve", I believe. So if he had not, he would be seperating from the navy december 20th of this year. His ETS on his LES has always reflected this date. He has no plans to get out of the navy. Every couple months for the last year I've brought up the ETS date still being for 2009 and he's called the appropriate people on more than one occasion. He was told his LES shows what is called a "soft ETS" and it will change and not to worry. Because he would actually be getting out in December 2010, he isn't able to reenlist yet. My concern is that the most recent LES not only STILL says december 2009, but also that all pay and entitlments will be suspended in December down in the remarks. He still seems to think we shouldn't be worried but as the family accountant, I am just a little alarmed. Also, he suddenly has 11 "use or lose" days. He had none last month. I'm not sure if that's even related but it's seems like another red flag. Is anyone familiar with these circumstances? Should I chill out about it or crack the whip on taking this seriously? lol
Any advice would be so helpful.. Thanks
Jackie

That is because the new fiscal year started on 1 Oct. He will earn 30 days during this fiscal year. If you add 30 to his current number of leave days, he ends up with 11 more than he is allowed to carry over, so his LES shows 11 "use or lose" days.

Sorry, can't help you with the other issue.

Mine had to extend a year for this assignment and his original ETS was a couple of mos ago. As it approached, I asked him about it and he went and checked with someone in his orderly room (I have no idea what the Navy equivalent is). The new ETS showed up just as the old one "expired". No lapse in anything. (I was kind of hoping they would let him reenlist right then and there instead of waiting b/c he was in the zone C SRB category and next year he will not be, but of course they did not.)

I don't know what, if anything, they had to do to fix it. If your husband has talked to someone, it probably is OK but definitely keep an eye on things come Dec to make sure.

Unless things have changed, which is quite likely since I've been out for a while, he should be able to re-enlist right now if he desires. If he has not entered into the extension then he is still operating off his current enlistment contract. Re-enlisting wipes out all pending, but not current, extensions. So, if his extension goes into effect in December then he should be eligible to re-enlist now since he is within 3 months of his original EAOS. That is also the reason that it doesn't show up on the LES, because he could cancel the extension by re-enlisting.

Thank you everyone for your input. He talked to someone and was told again not to worry. He has to call someone on monday just to be on the safe side but it sounds like this is normal for his situation...
Thanks again
Jackie
