I am thinking about joining the Army. My husband has already been active duty for 5 years. We have been together for 5 years and married for just about 2. We are both wondering what are the pros and cons of being dual military? Any feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Being dual military you may need a waiver to get in if there are kids involved. If there are no children it should be easier.
Remember the needs of the military come before your needs as a family. They may try to co-locate you within a 50 mile radius of one another, but there are no guarantees. Be prepared for long periods of time apart. We knew one couple in the Navy, both pilots, that routinely spent a year apart. At that times deployments were 6 months. One would be deployed with a squadron and the other one left as the first one was coming home. Then they would have about 6 months in the States before starting the routine again. It can be done though. It takes work and dedication, but it can work. Sgt Mom |

Since her husband is in the Army, it would be more difficult if she joined the AF. |
