Hi I am looking to connect with spouses from 1/2 in 2003 who were part of the iraq deployment. My husband has PTSD from this and I was hoping to share stories to get some in sight on this

what are his symptoms? Is he getting treatment? I am seeing a lot of signs of ptsd in my husband, but he and the military doesn't see it. Just interested to know what steps you have taken

It is often the family members that see symptoms first. Educate yourself and try to get him to accept the help he needs.

Check out the forums referenced above, they are a great resource.

it is very discouraging to me, that I seen the signs, I notified the chaplain and commander of the signs while my husband was deployed. They began by telling me ther was absolutely something wrong but they'd need to look into it more. things were then very up and down the rest of his deployment. The day my husband was to return, he told me the place and time to pick him up, He never showed. I couldn't reach anyone untill the next morning. He had told them several different stories after they "found" him. He has still yet to speak to anyone he new before he left for Iraq. Not his children, his parents, church friends co workers, anyone... I am educated on as much as I can be. Just very discouraged with the national guard ,their inability to help now that he's not considered active, and the fact that my husband has no advocate. He left a happy normal family man, and that person never came back

Being NG does throw a monkey wrench into the "safety net" to try and catch some of these PTSD cases.

Email me directly at sgtmom@gmail.com and let me know where you are and so forth. I'll poke around to see what I may be able to find for you.
