33 yeard old male, went numero 2 tonight and notice in the toilet a little amount of bright red blood floating, not attached to the stool and none found on my *****. never has this happened so i quickly googled everything i could find. i have been doing a digestive cleanse and i think i may just be wiping to hard since i now go 5 - 7 times a day and its usually loose stools, not diareahea. but i am also concerned because my momther had rectal cancer in the past. should i wait to see if this happens again or call someone now? i am a reservist and do to financial situation i cannot afford tricare and do not have medical insurance. i am not on orders either right now. i have had no pain take in a pretty high fiber diet and drink close to 2 gallons of water a day, i read it can be really nothing from a small tear to something bigger. should i just monitor to see if it happens again?i went to urinate about 30 minutes later and there was no trace of blood. you guys are the experts so what do you think?

First off, my opinion is just that and I have NOT been to Med School....

But, usually bright red (fresh) blood comes from the end of track, think hemmorhoid or small tear. This is usually not a big deal and can be caused by constipation/straining or I guess a lot of wiping...

Again, if it were me I wouldn't be too concerned, but if there is ANY question or it happens again you need to seek a Doctor's advice.

Soular,

BM 5-7 times a day is too much. Way too high in fiber diet. You need to consult an MD about what you are eating.

Sounds like this is not due to fiber, rather one of the off the shelf "cleanse" products sold.

I actually discussed this with my Dr. He said there is absolutely ZERO evidence that this is beneficial in any way and that his opinion was it could cause problems rather than be of any benefit.

You should make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as possible. If you cannot get to see your doctor in a timely manner and/or if the symptoms worsen, get seen at an ER.

There are many variables that could point into different directions when it comes to diagnosing. When it comes to your health and wellbeing, I do not feel comfortable in making a hypothosis/theory on what could be going on in your case. You need to be seen in a professional setting, where the proper exams and testing can be performed.

Regarding your financial status, being a reservist, you need to sign up for TRICARE Reserve Select. It is a very good program at a very inexensive monthly rate. In the meanwhile, you should look at the various state medical programs.

Just my opinion.
