That is a good question, and one that is not address in anything I read... I would hope that the Chief would be eligible. Maybe the HS3 would get some sort of "partial credit, if anything?
With the way the boats are billeted right now (AKAIK), the HS3 is not a separate billet so the HSC is still an IDHS. As far as the HS3? The guidelines are pretty clear, you have to have been through one of the schools or complete a successful tour....but then who knows? HSC
Are you an HS3(your profile is not filled out)? Are this billets popular with A school graduates, or are they being filled by "select and direct" means?
I do have to apologize for not having a completed profile. Yes, I am an HS3 (hoping to make 2nd real soon). When I went through a-school there was only one cutter available and I had to practically beg a classmate with a higher priority for the billet. I have heard that classes with multiple cutters sometimes have a problem filling them.
One thing I have noticed in the last couple of years is that those corpsmen that go to a clinic don't envy those that get underway, and vice versa. If I had to choose again I would make the same exact choice.
LOL. I cannot image WANTING to go to a clinic. I had rather have a case of kidney stones for four years than have to deal with the craziness I have seen or heard about in the larger clinics. In my opinion, Independent Duty is the only way to go!
