I am an HS2 and am nearing the end of PMT school. As I look to the future I wonder what does a PMT in the Coast Guard do? I am well educated on what a PMT in the navy does but find no info on PMT's in the Coast Guard. If there are any current or former PMT's that could help me out I would appricate it. Thanks
It depends on where you will be stationed. The larger the clinic/base the more likely you are to do "PMT" stuff- doing inspections, immunizations, training, OMSEP and such. At a small clinic you could begin the day doing galley inspections and finish chair siding. I'm sure your Chief will look to utilize your skills to the maximum extent possible and have you train the rest of the HSs on all things bug-chaser but he/she will still ensure you are well-rounded and ready to go to sea.
