I retired HMC at my last duty station at Ketchikan Base in March 1979.Before that I was one of the instructors at the new Coast Guard HM School at the Academy from 1973 to 1976. Our CO was LCDR Hugh Teel. Other instructors were HMCM Mark Coleman, HMCM Joe White, HMC Lou Nanni, HMC Tom Wolfe, HMC Dan Hisken, HM1 Connie Swaro and HM2 George ( can't remember his last name). After I retired, I went back to college at the University of Texas in Galveston and graduated with a BS degree in Health Care Administration. I worked as manager of USTF Outpatient Clinic in Galveston, Texas for few years and now completely retired. And now I am into writing to keep me busy. Two of my books were published by AuthorHouse and now I am getting ready to publish my third book. It's all nonfiction about my experiences in America as a Filipino immigrant.
Visit www.Authorhouse.com and just type my name Ray L. Burdeos and a list of my books will appear.

I would like to hear from my former shipmates and former students at HM School at the Academy.

I retired in 1979 at Base Ketchikan. Now living in Galveston, Texas. As a corpsman, I was stationed at Academy Hospital in 1968, Buttonwood in 1970, USPHS OPC in San Diego in 1972, Instructor at HM "A" at the Academy in 1973 and Base Ketchikan in 1976. Made two attempts to make warrant, but twice one below the cutoff. It happened when DTCM Wood and DTCM Finch respectively accepted warrant. I could not believe that an E-9 would accept warrant and then retires in few years.
After retirement I went to college at University of Texas in Galveston and graduated with a BS degree in Health Care Administration. Worked for St. Mary Hospital to manage a USTF Clinic. Now involved into writing. Visit the publishing company www.Authorhouse.com for the list of my books. Just type my name Ray L. Burdeos and it will take you to the list of my books.

What are the chances of that, especially as relatively small of a community as Coast Guard HS is?

Casey, don't forget you got another former HS up the hill here in Prescott too! -Jeff

I retired 1979 after 23 years in service. Made the list for warrant twice but always pushed down one below the cutoff, because two E9s accepted warrant. In 1968 I was stationed at the Academy Hospital; in 1970 aboard the buoy tender Buttonwood in Sand Island; in 1970 I was CG Rep at USPHS OPC San Diego; in 1973 instructor at HM School (when it started) at the Academy and in 1976 to 1979 ran clinic at Ketchikan Base then retired thereafter. Enrolled at the University of Texas and earned BS Degree in Health Care Administration, worked for USTF Clinic at St. Mary's Hospital as manager. Now fully retired and got into writing just like CWO Chuck Williams. Visit my website at www.rayburdeos.com .
I wish to hear from former shipmates and former students at HM School.
