That's great/wonderful for him. Not everyone has the opportunity to pilot a plane (and have an aptitude for it). A job well done. Hopefully, he will continue to do well throughout his training.
Here's a little update: Prince William will be serving on either Frigate or a Destroyer in an upcoming RN tour, potentially in dangerous waters, as stated in the ff. link:
My hat's off to his HRH for also serving. It's also a pity that his brother Prince Harry had to pulled back home to London from continuing his duty in Afghanistan just because the media blackout to conceal his tour there collapsed. At least he tried.

When one of the royal family is serving in the armed forces, how are they addressed; are they addressed by the military rank or by royal title?
Depends on the situation and relative (social and military) ranks but these days the military style is Cornet/Lieutenant (or appropriate rank) Wales for superiors and warrant officers and Sir for juniors (subalterns can also be addressed as Mister/Miss X but I think they've avoided that).
It should be noted that to save face in the various services HRH William of Wales will have his army rank translated into the equivalent RAF and RN ranks - thus he's Flying Officer (FO) Wales on the RAF secondment (although one of the articles above lists FO as equivalent to 2Lt which it isn't - Pilot officer is the 2Lt equivalent, FO is a full Lt.)
A little update: Britain's Prince William poses for the photographers after he graduated from the Royal Air Force College at the RAF Cranwell, in Cranwell, northern England, Friday April 11, 2008. Prince William was presented with his ceremonial pilot's wings Friday by his father Prince Charles, as he graduated as a military pilot and followed in the footsteps of a host of his royal ancestors.
