I ran into a guy in a bar last night who was sporting a 82nd patch and a Long Range Surviellance Tab. I told him I was a Scout in the 101st and he started with the dope on a rope stuff. So I told him that as BN Scout we reported to S-2.

He said that he was at Corps level.

I said XVIII Airborne Corps?

He said 'EYE" Corps

I said First Corps?

He said Europe.

I said V or VII Corps?

Then I mentioned a SALUTE report and he told me that the "E" stood for enemy.

I told him it stood for Equipment.

he started talking about MRE"s

Thoughts?

Nice!!!

Where do these people come from? MY thought....he's a loser.

What did he have to say about MREs, does he like the beef stew, or the franks and beans?

HA

My guess he would come up with an entree found only in the civilian knock-off MREs!

WTF?

That guys is full of SCHIT.

First, the is no suck thing as a ****ing LRS TAB.

I Corps (first corps) LRS is a NG unit. They are the only corps LRS that is not active.

Second, 82d'd LRS is NOT a Corps asset, XVIII ABN Corps has their own LRS.

What kind of Soldier can't tell you what a SALUTE Report is?

FRAG HIS AZZ.

Long Range Surveillance Tab? A Scroll maybe, but, yeah, there is no LRS tab.

Just out of curiosity, what type of garment was he wearing the 82nd patch and the LRS tab on? (assuming it wasn't a tatoo) I wonder how he come across them.

It was on a leather jacket. The Double A was over his left pocket and the "scroll" was on the back.

Hit It where is I Corps LRS NG located?

I Corps LRS (F Co, 425th INF (LRSC)(ABN)) is located @ Selfridge ANGB, Michigan. They are part of the 250th MI Bn and wear an Airborne tab above the 250th MI patch on their shoulder, and they also wear a maroon beret with a distinctive flash.

I had to leave that unit in 2002 due to personal problems at home, but it is a great unit full of excellent soldiers.

Thanks for the info. I'll study up on the unit history, for the next time I run into him.

But let's face it , he didn't know what a SALUTE report was.

F/425th Inf is inactivating, if it hasn't already. It's being replaced by an active unit, C/38th Cavalry.

Are you kidding? I left active duty in '91 and I still remember what a SALUTE report is. Sounds like a wannabe!

I'm rusty as F#ck, but doesn't the E = Enemy come from "MET-T"?

No such thing as an LRSD tab the 25th ID had an LRSD company only difference was they had Airborne over their Division patch and were authorized the Beret worn by Army Airborne.

This was back in 87 or so. They were in E quad Schofield Barracks right across from 125th MI if I remember right.

Every LRS unit I have any kind of contact with i.e I Corps LRS, 82nd Abn and 18th Abn Corps LRS and 2nd ID LRS all had a unofficial LRS scroll that they had on their PT shirts and other non-uniform regalia. I would bet that this dude had a scroll and not a tab.

This guy sounds like an idiot for the reasons everyone else has already mentioned.
