So last Thursday was an interesting day. Graduated from jump school last Saturday, was waiting for my ticket to Germany and the 173rd, when Sgt Airborne walks over and tells me I need to start driving to Fort Bragg. So much for European chicks in my near future...

I found out yesterday I'm being assigned to the 18th Airborne Special Troops Battalion and I haven't heard anything about it. Is anyone here familiar with it? I'm coming in as a 35M. Thanks

Hope you don't like jumping. They are hard up for jump slots dude. My old platoon sergeant from Hawaii just PCSd to Bragg a few months before I did and he's over in Corps Artillery. He said like the only two people in his company on status is the commander and 1sg. He said it was like that across the Corps because of funding. I don't know how true it is because I haven't seen it myself but I'm at USAJFKSWC so we are all on status.

Good to hear it's a good outfit. Not good to hear about the lack of jumps... that sucks!

Any advice for the new guy? I am still inprocessing but hopefully will be done Wed/Thurs. Fayatteville is a special place.

Been there with my hubby, currently deployed. He's Airborne status with 118th MP Co. and he got to jump a lot there. And yes, Fayetteville is a special and boring place...
