There are two USAR units and one NG SF unit in my state on jump status. However according to the recruiters, there are no 92R (Rigger) slots available.
Do all units on status have a Rigger section and there just may not be any slots available? Or can units be supported by Riggers out of the state the unit is in?

Thanks for the reply. I'm in California. I've always wanted to be a Paratrooper and while the primary ABN unit jobs in my state are respectable, they either don't interest me or aren't up my ally (PSYOP, CA and SF). I figure a Rigger's main job is Airborne operations, and since that's where my interest lies, why not?
Is there anything I don't know about being a Rigger that might dissuade me?
Well I mean if you like being the butt of the joke all of the time. If you want to learn more about being a paratrooper, check out this site ++www.armyparatrooper.org just remove the plus signs.

I'm guessing they're like the mechanics of an SF unit (no offense to mechanics or riggers out there!)? I've been lurking on AP and Pnet, just hard to know what it's like without having been a part of the community, and it's hard to say if I'll enjoy being a CA or PSYOP specialist.
I’ve really never joked about riggers and I wouldn’t think it’s funny to joke about them, unless it was in good taste. I’ve served on rigging detail with every paratrooper unit I’ve been with. It pertained to rig prep for heavy drop to shaking and hanging T-10 to heavy drop chutes in the drying tower. The heavy drop chutes get real heavy when wet and belly over a tower beam and lifting it from a pulley hook to a fixed drying hook.
Riggers work hard and they have rewards for a number of chutes the rigger meets without flaws. I’m sure if you persist in your goal to be a hard working rigger, you should be able to put in for the school and meet your need to be one. Good luck and thank you for your interest in wanting to be a Paratrooper.

One caveat to that website...
Most of the Vets there are trying to relive their youth. Fine if they want to do that but its not reality. Hate to see a "Considering Joining" or "Wannabe" go over there and think thats the norm for how to communicate in the Army.
