On your first jump. you will be so pumped up it will be a blur. Only after you get on the ground and think about what you just did will it hit you.

The sound of nothing as you watch the Aircraft fly away then the sounds of others screaming for Joy then for you to SLIP/Turn away.
Then the sounds of the Blackhats yelling at you to get your head out of your fourth point of contact Big Grin

I always found that interesting.

First jump... almost greater than sex. Hopefully you got it in your contract.

Jumping (and landing without major injury) is a high no drug can touch.

On your first jump if you are not scared witless there is something wrong. The first jump is easy, it's the second jump that bothers some people.

1st jump was like having sex with your pants up, 2nd a little touchy, 3rd ok, Then the equipement jump, so shaken, thought all I would be was a splat on the ground. But every jump I ever made, I always got a great high.

Doc says the day he "IS NOT" scared to make a jump, or pull a duty, is the day it is time to get off jump status. Not so much scared after 15 yrs as I am sure nervous.

I've never jumped out of an airplane but I imagine not being nervous is asking for an accident/something stupid to happen.

I've been passing along all this stuff you guys say to my husband who starts school on Monday, can't tell how it's making him feel though. Wink

I wasn't scared because they have you prepared for anything that could possibly go wrong. A quick prayer on the C130 and I was good to go.

They may TEACH YOU everything but I doubt they have you PREPARED for ANYTHING that could go wrong.

I don't think my husband was prepared when he smacked his melon on the side of the bird during an exit... and I dont think he was prepared when he was the Primary on a bird that had a cigerette roll jumper and another jumper who smacked his squash and was knocked unconcious.

15 yrs of jumping and he STILL gets a bit weirdo when he jumps.

Correct. Stuff always goes wrong that you're unprepared for. We had someone pull the yellow tab and turn their rucksack into a ruck bomb on the night jump. It ended up collapsing someones chute and he fell about 100ft breaking his leg. He got lucky. I'm far from being experienced with jumping, so I'm gonna leave my comments at that regarding this topic.

my first jump i was first, the worst/best part is when the door of the bird opens up and the jump master tells you to stand up, hook up... thats when my heart beats out of control and my legs feel weak lol. start thinking about everything that could go wrong, and i think even athiest start praying to God Wink
