Patience.........you waited a grand total of 1:31 between posts. Ya think maybe people might be at work and haven't read it yet?

You're going to have to wait until someone either assigned to, or who has recently left, The Herd, reads it to get an answer to your question.

If you are dedicated to what you want to do, you can do it. Whether its going to college online or going to the gym. Even when deployed, most FOBs have gyms. If you 1SG is resourceful enough, he can get weight training equipment for a company FOB or COP as well.

Speaking of 173, I'm about to graduate AIT after 6 long months and I'm off to BAS before it's on to Bamberg and the 173rd. Any advice for a new guy showing up?

I've heard Bamberg is a great place to be stationed!

Well first off dont be suprised if your orders get changed by the time you graduate Airborne School. Atleast half of the guys I went to OSUT with got different orders when we graduated BAS. Secondly the best thing you can do is show up squared away. Be in the best physical shape possible. Come into your station with respect for the the guys who have been deployed, the NCO's and everyone around you. That will go a long way. You will definetely get f'd with atleast a little bit being a cherry but if you show respect, maturity and har work ethic, you will fit in soon enough. Also its ok to be a little cocky, confidence shows, dont be a scared little new guy cuz you'll get picked on. Show that you are a man and are capable of doing a good job. There will be ALOT of new things to learn but keep an open mind, keep the eagerness to learn and get better and you will do fine.
