What Foreign airborne wings have u earned?

When I was a Paratrooper in Alaska we did an exchange jump with the Canadians and I got my Canadian wings.

I made an exchange jump with the Spanish Army in Spain while serving with the 20th Special Forces Group Alabama Army National Guard during Flintlock 85.

I made an exchange jump with the Italian Army in Italy and earned my Italian jump wings while serving with the 20th Special Forces Group during Flintlock 88.

Col Murph,
I've got what may be a stupid question. After the RVN no longer existed, were their wings still authorized to wear?

How's the Son?

You are only authorized to wear one foreign jump wings on your dress uniform.

I wear my Italian wings because it was one of the best times I have had in my military career. I never wear my Canadian wings in protest for the stance the Canadian government took on our going into Iraq.

The couple times I had a chance to jump w/ a foreign unit were scratched due to extremly high winds. Didn't really care about the wings so much as the getting the experience. OK, I'll stop the pity-party lol.

Italy Calls Iraq War "Grave Error"

Will you stop wearing your Italian wings at the end of the year?

That will be my decision. If the Democrats win the next Presidential election they will claim the same thing and that does not mean I will stop wearing my American jump wings.

I have nothing against the Canadian military or their citizens. My problem was with a decision their government made. I don't always agree with what my government does either. It would be one thing if they had a policy of not sending troops to other wars that may or may not be a direct threat to their country. They send troops all over the world to be part of the UN peace keeping missions.

I really don't know how large a contribution they would make since their population is smaller than that of the state of California and there are states in the US that have a larger National Guard than their standing Army. But hey the UK and Australia are with us in Iraq so why not Canada?

Right, wrong or indifferent Canada was the only English speaking country that did not back us up on Iraq and thats their decision. As far as their going into Afghanistan they should be there after all there were Canadian citizens killed in the 9/11 attack and its the duty of the government to protect its citizens.

As I stated before I have no problem with the Canadian Citizens or their Military. Since I can only wear one foreign jump wings on my uniform its my call which set I choose to wear and I can make my decision based on what ever I want. If y'all don't like my decision thats up to you but bottom line its my call not yours. If you don't like my decision then take your smiling face up to Canada like WiFiWarrior did and earn your Canadian wings and wear them with pride. If I had to go out of my way to drive up to Canada to earn mine then I may feel different. At least I not vain enough to choose which foreign jump wings I wear based on what looks the nicest or based on how large they are like several of my fellow soldiers have done.

British

Spent a few days in key west doing jumps with them - on the tarmac by 0700, 2 water jumps completed and all chutes washed and stowed at the loft by 1200, BBQ and partying by 1330. That was tough duty I tell ya... Wink

I really liked the time I spent in both Italy and Germany. I liked Italy better with their food and Italian women.
