I need some information that i cant seem to find ANYWHERE on the internet. I know about lateral moves and all that, but i was wondering how easy/difficult it would be to lat move from 03 Infantry, to 02 Intelligence. Basically, im enlisting as 03 to follow legacy and personal desires, but after my 2 years i want to lat move into Intel for more of a foundation to fall back on. Can anyone tell me how hard or easy this may be to obtain, and any advice, suggestions, or wisdom youd like to share? Please reply to this, or email me at:
Don't respond to this, just do it. First, take USMC out of your screen name as you haven't earned the title yet. Second, if you want your question answered by a Marine, post in the wannabe forum only. And for the love of God, use the search function first. This question has been answered before. Again, don't respond, just do.
Grunts: Sorry for the intrusion in your house. Back in my lane now.
FIRST, USMC is in my screen name, because that is what im enlisted in, NOT because im claiming to be a Marine. USMC means United States Marine Corps, NOT United States MARINE. SECOND, i posted under USMC Infantry in case anyone here might have some information for me. I didnt post this asking for some cocky SOB to talk ****, when these forums are provided for questions and discussions. I SEARCHED for my answer, and didnt find one. Sorry im not computer savvey like YOU Mr. Comm Guy. Ill go ahead and delete the thread being that your gonna reply to this and start barking some more about how your so cool because you post on here more than the moderators...
I was actually trying to help you out before the grunts see this and tear you a new a$$hole. Apparently you're too immature or nieve to see that. Fair enough. Don't say I didn't warn you. By the way, I work with radios, not computers dumba$$.
You didnt have to be such a di ck head about it. My brother is a Marine Corps GRUNT by the way...im not really worried about it. If they get pis sed because i posted something on a forum, then oh well? Its a FORUM lol. Still, your first message didnt help me at all, besides, "Just do it." I plan on doing it, but i was wondering how realistic it would be to achieve my goals. If you got some advice for me, i posted my email above, if not, see you in another forum, im sure. Take care and no disrespect, you ARE a Marine, but again, i wasnt looking for smart ass remarks. Thanks bud.

WHO THE FU(K ARE YOU TO SPEAK THAT WAY TO A MARINE AND IN MY HOOCH!? You want a smart a$$ remark? Fine! Delete USMC from your screen name, and take your Wannabe Ass to the Wannabe Forum you arrogant little Turd!
Calling me a di(khead and meaning no disrespect in the same post is a bit of an oxymoron wouldn't you say? I'm not going to get into a pi$$ing contest with you. Its a pointless waste of time. As for your brother being an Infantryman, thats great, but its HIS accomplishment. If you go around telling people that from boot camp on, they'll think your trying to suggest you deserve special treatment and as a result you'll just get thrashed. I've got friends who are Infantrymen and I'm attached to the infantry, but that doesn't make me an Infantryman. Just because your brother is a grunt and you've signed the papers for that MOS doesn't mean you've earned the right to call yourself one; or a Marine for that matter. Like I said before, only post in the Wannabe Forum.

The Wannabe Forum was created several years ago simply because we grew tired of answering all the questions here. Seems everyone wants to be a real combat hero and we're the farthest thing from it and we don't like talking about it.
So go back over to Wannabes as that's your Forum to ask whatever you want because this is for Grunts only.
In order to lat-move into 0211 you must be an NCO with at least two years remaining on your contract after schooling.
When I was in 29Palms I went through the entire process to lat move to 0211. I went and talked to the CI unit on CAMPEN. I had to write a 500(?) word essay on a terrorist organization. They reviewed my packet information, letters of rec, PFT scores, rifle scores, etc. Then I had an interview with a Lt. and a couple of Sgt's.
At the time the MOS was 0211 for CI, and then 0251 I believe was Interrogator. The interview was almost like an interrogation in and of itself and was extremely stressful. I scored a 96 on the DLAB, believe I probably would have learned Farsi is I had to go to DLI. Mostly the 51's went to DLI, now maybe they both go? MOS's merger perhaps, cannot remember.
I found out that I was accepted and my reenlistment package was put through. At that time the reenlistment bonus was a multiplier of 5. Bonus would have been 30K.
I was home-sick while in Okinawa (over 9/11) and ended up turning the reenlistment down. I missed my kid and my wife and figured I would miss them more with the deployments.
It is one of my biggest regrets. Man that was a tough one. I kept the reenlistment package from the jammer so I can show my kids that I was an Ok Marine.
You might want to concentrate on getting yourself through boot camp first. Don't get over your skis so much.
