In late 2005, the battalion was once again activated and attached to the 6th Marine Regiment at Camp Lejeune. Although the first full company has deployed, 1/9 is not expected to be ready for depoyment as a battalion until May 2008.
yea that was alpha co. i was on the deployment...but what i mean is what are people hearing as far as the "quality" of the battalion? Good things or bad things?
In the spring of 91 there were all these trophys and plaques in their CP proclaiming their full sweep of the Division Comp that year over all the pouge units from mainside.
I just sent you a message with some Q's about 1/9. I'd appreciate it if you could hit me back. If you could just reply to my actual email, dylinger44@ hotmail.com (no spaces) that would help me alot alot.
FBP2004... are you still in Rota? If you are or were, did you ever come across a Sgt. Gutherie from II FAST Company. He's a buddy of mine, and kind of wondering if he got into any trouble out there so I can bring it up to him next time he's sober.
This is him. Don't sweat the shoulder patch. He and the dude standing are former Marine Grunts, working on military documentaries for the Military Channel.
Sorry Hollywood, face doesn't ring a bell. If he was there in the 05-06 time frame, I probably saw him, but FAST plts rotated out every 6 months or so. Not much time to get to know people, especially if he was a SGT, I was just a lowly LCPL.
Two of my buddies from SOI went to 1/9, apparently 1/9 set the Marine Corps record for most NJP's in a year with 85 in the unit... and there's still another 6 months to go, we'll see if they break 100 .
