just got out of boot camp and i would like to know exactly wat i need to bring to SOI. Is it everything that i got at bootcamp or just my uniforms and SRB? I'm going to ITB and i heard they get a little more freedom than MCT, so will i be able to bring a cell, laptop, or camera? I just dont want to walk in the door with that **** and have it all taken or something like that. i appreciate any help. thanks

My opinion bring as little as possible. It just increases chances of losing ****.Travel light until you get orders for your duty station. Also there are thiefs in the Corps(hate to admit it but my 782 gear was stolen in S.O.I).

If I were you I wouldn't bring anything expensive or electronic. At most a cellphone. If an ipod or something similar, watch it like a hawk cause it will get stolen. If you want to take pictures, buy some cheap disposable cameras and get the images on print or CD. I had a laptop when I was at SOI as did a few other people but believe me we kept them buried safely in the wall locker out of sight and locked down.

There is nothing more retarded than sitting in the squadbay on Friday when everyone else is on libo already, because some dumbass didn't secure his PSP or whatever and it got stolen.

An ipod and cell phone are probably all the extras you should bring. I'd worry about the laptop when you get to a duty station. It's not worth the risk of getting it stolen. Just keep everything locked up and out of sight.

Some guys when I was at SOI had dvd players and laptops, but I wouldn't want to have to worry about that stuff getting ganked.

There was an old saying when I was in the Cops: We don't have anyone here that would steal, only people that will pickup what you allow them to have!

The best advice I heard was to wait until you get to your duty station. It is not going to hurt you to be without that stuff for only a monthm or so, but it will hurt you not to have it at all anymore!
