Iwasn't really sure if this should of been at the Wanna Be forum or here I guess it fits the Infantry Board. My question is if I chose 0311 as my MOS would there be anyway to qualify and go for training as a DM or are you just picked out to go?

yes, this should go in the wannabe forum.

And if you go 0311 your chances are next to none that you would go to DM school.

Even if you went security forces, which is what would be your best bet if you wanted to go to DM school, you would still have to get in with one of the CQB teams at a PRP command or one of the other same type of teams they have in the FAST commands. And you would not be guaranteed a slot for that school, you would have to earn it.

You could get DM training, but as for the school on a division or regimental level...I doubt it.
I know a couple guys from every platoon got DM training in Iraq from our Sniper attachments.

In LAR 3-4 people out of my platoon went to DM school prior to deploying. Granted, LAR doesn't have sniper attachments, so that might be why.

I went to a DM course in Diwaniah Iraq, Hottest 3 days of my life... The Marine running it was Gunner Colliton(or something like that) Anyways I think he got in trouble for it, because so many Marines were heat casualties...

Anyways the point of this is, You never know what courses and schools your gonna goto. Alot of times you get picked...
