Joe: Yes that is really them. Brother-in-law (life long New Orleans resident)took those this past Mardi Gras. No I reside in Texas now but I am still a die hard Tiger fan. Not hard to do in the Houston/Katy area. There are a lot of us over here.

Damn Apollo.......money well spent.

You in the Katy area? I used to live over there. Lived off of Mason Rd. Went to West Memorial Junior High. Damn small world. I was recruited out of that office on Mason also.

And yeah, it was money well spent. I could tell you stories about what I did in N.O.......but not in public.

Ill be damned.

Yeah....I am in Cinco Ranch. We like it over here but I still miss Louisiana sometimes. We left a lot of family and friends behind. But damn this town (Houston) is booming right now.

I bet that I have been asked a 100 times, "why the hell did you move back to Louisiana when you got out?"

Man, are you kidding me? Corrupt politicians, high crime rate, VERY high insurance rates, hurricanes that wipe your house off of the map, and tax rates that guarantee poverty.... What's not to love? I can't imagine leaving this paradise! Big Grin

yeah, I've heard that the property taxes in TX suck! 4%! I think that I would have to find someone else with a shelter half. LOL

Honestly, I can't imagine living anywhere else. My wife would move in a heartbeat. Everytime she mentions it, I tell her that I'm gonna miss her when she's gone.

Yeah, there's a little more grass here, some humidity, a touch more water, and good food but other than that they are almost the same. LOL

We have completly hijacked Apollo's thread. Big Grin

This is funny stuff. I run into posers all the time, for some reason they seem to want to congregate at the gym here in town. I have a MOTO tattoo on my forearm, so a lot of them approach me, usually when conversation is not convenient.

Some freak will walk up to me and stupidly ask, “were you in the Marines man”? After I finish my set, or whatever I’m doing at that moment, I’ll answer him, and say yeah.

Invariably the bunghole will say yeah. I was in the Marines to. Conversation remarkably similar to what has been illustrated in this post will ensue, culminating in my conclusion that the dude is a poser. So I’ll tell him he’s a freaking liar, and to get away from me before I get my workout beating on his ***.

Once, one poser actually got pissed at me, and was ready to throw down. He told me that he’d been a Marine for 10 years, that he was a Reconnaissance Marine. After having the inevitable poser determining conversation with him I told him he was a freaking liar, and to stay away from me. He actually tried to defend his identity as a Recon Marine. When I asked him where he’d attended ARS He told me that he’d attended BUDS, and that he’d been advised that since he’d been trained as a Seal ARS had been waived in his case. When I asked him where he’d been stationed he told me Fort Drum, NY. (An Army Base).

Anyway, in the end I went away, telling me that nobody calls him a liar and he’d meet with me outside. At that point I was pretty much fed up and followed his sorry carcass right out of the gym into the parking lot, right on his heels as a matter of fact. When we got outside he started screaming like a woman, ran to his car, jumped in and took off. At the time I did not think it was very funny, but now that I think back on it, it was pretty funny.

The best part is that that guy never came back to my gym again…

What really amazes me is the fact that posers admit to being a Marine to a person they know to be an actual Marine. I mean, WTF?

If I were posin' as a Marine, and actually ran into a Marine....I quickly would start posin' as a Green Beret or whatever.

But whatever. I've heard stories of morons who go around sporting the friggin Medal of Honor in the open. How in the blue fuck can you expect to get away with that?

I can kinda understand why posers do what they do. They really really want to be Marines but they can't be for whatever reason so they just pretend.

The reason that I understand is because I used to be a poser myself.

When I was in the Corps, I really really wanted to be a civilian so I used to run around acting like one. I wouldn't get my hair cut or I would put my hands in my pockets. I liked to dress up in civilian clothes and act like normal people. I really really wanted to be a civilian but I just couldn't be! Sooo, I was kinda stuck with posin' as a civilian. Big Grin

Not to get too deep in a grunt forum but the world is full of people pretending to be someone or something they are not. Forget the military angle. People go their whole friggin lives doing this $hit and they start believing it themselves.

The way I look at it is this.....if they can go on living their pathetic azz lives in that fashion, so be it, they are way more miserable living a lie than I could ever make them.

One less ingrate competing for the same shait I want simply because noone like that can possibly be on the same level as me.

Fug em and move on.

By the way Joe.....Apollo doenst give a $hit about us hijacking his thread to talk about Louisiana. He is a coonazz trapped in a Texan's body from the sound of it anyway. Wink Big Grin

Poor guy couldn't afford to live here. He would have to get his boss to make his checks out to "Pat O'Brians". LOL

Don't worry, mo' fo' retribution is coming. Cinco ranch is only a 45 min drive away.....
Louisiana is full of trash people anyway. All the locals on NO would have definitely been a part of my "Final Solution" had they given me the opportunity. The only downside to bourbon street was how incredibly disgustingly dirty it was. I remember drunkingly jumping over fetid puddles that probably still had Katrina aftermath water still in it. That place should have been nuked.

And as for Pat O'Brians......Those guys make some strong-azz Hurricanes. Every sip of that damn drink felt like I was taking a shot. I could actually taste the spiced rum...if that's what it was. I went in there sober.....came out blowing a .18. And yeah....I had one of those handheld breathalyzers. Those things are of the devil. Makes everything you do a competition drinking contest.

As for NO....even when I lived in Baton Rouge it was just a place to visit....not too live. I dont disagree with any of what you said except for the Louisiana part. There are some good folks there along with the trash but that is true for every state. Believe me....I have seen most of them and it rings true Besides I stopped going to the quarter years ago. Stuck to the uptown area when we went out.

Hell, I only live about 30 miles or so from N.O. and I don't go there unless I absolutely have to. It's too big of a pain in the azz to drive there, get drunk and have to cross the damn Causeway bridge full of cops to get back home.

Don't judge the whole state by what you saw in New Orleans. Other than me, the people here are not bad. LOL

Anybody have someone come up to you and tell you about their poser brother or cousin or buddy. Such as I was at a party and this kid starts talking to me. He told me about how is brother went to West Point with a full ride scholarship (is there anyother kind?) and became a Green Beret. He deployed here and there but then on "current" deployment to Iraq he became a Navy Seal and is a sniper for them. He got pissed when I pulled his punk card and asked him if his brother watched alot of Dolph Lundgren movies where he's a SEAL/FORCE RECON/GREEN BERET/SNIPER/RANGER/TOP GUN GRADUATE? I later kind of felt bad because he truly believed what his poser brother told him.

Catching some azzclown in a bar, back home, spouting some BS fantasy is absolutely comical. Pathetic for him, but hysterical for me.
Now, being in the middle of Iraq/Afghanistan, and running into the same type of retard, who is on the same gig as you (private company)because Suzy Rotten****** reading resumes doesn't know an 0311 from a 300ZX. Well, suddenly it's no so funny. And it happens a helluva lot more than one would think...
