Does the Marine Corps need Airborne Regiment and why?

No, and what for?

We have the TRANSPORTER BEAM MARINES, no need for the airdrop Troops.

The reason I'm asking an OPINION is because the Rangers are a premier light infantry regiment meaning not a Division so Rangers where used in OEF1 because they could be assembled quick and dropped quick to secure an airstrip.Also brainiac if i'm not mistaken in ww2 the Marines had formed a parachute unit although I'm not sure if they actually used them.So I'm asking a question and if you don't like the thread get bent.

Hey Shafferyork instead of me getting into a pissing match with you When somebody post a thread wether you or anybody else doesn't like it or doesn't want to be part of that discussion please don't start slinging crap I can post anything I want and if the Mod's don't approve of it then they will take care of that issue not you unless you some how became a Mod in the last couple of hours.Now we can either get along or don't reply to each other.

The reason I asked does the Marine Corps need an Airborne Regiment is because yes the Marines have Expeditionary Units but there are land locked countries such as Afghanistan and to transport a MEU consist of refueling and can take hours to reach an objective all at once.Also who would have thought years ago the USMC would be a part of SOCOM not that we need to be in it.Of course the Marines cannot have an Airborne Division because of our size plus it would be against our naval amphibious capabilities.

OK I'll take your word that you are a 0311. For now. But you do need to go you profile and fill in some information or you will continue to have this problem. Fill in your bio. Where did you go to Boot Camp? When and what PLT? What units where you in. No one cares what your favorite food is. But we do need to see some info on the profile or you just look like a wannabe posing as a Marine. No hard fillings. I just call them how I see them.

There where Para Marine Reg. in where WWII. After the war they where dis-banded. The Corps has no need for any "AIRBORNE" Regiments. In fact we make fun of the ones the Army has. The ones I trained with where a joke.

Which Army Airborne units did you train with?It's funny you should mention that because my nephews a Ranger and he laughs when people ask him if he's in the 82nd.He tries to give me crap but he knows where he stands.

When I was with 1/5 my company got to go to Ft Irwin and play aggressor. The 101worst also sent a company. the 2nd Armour Div. was there to train for desert war far. Long story short. The 2nd learned real fast to avoid us and after the first ten day. the 101worst had screwed up two mission bad. We got all the hard stuff after that. They were use as line infantry.

Not exactly true.

Yes, this is an infantry forum. Yes, 03xx is the primary membership, however ANY Marine may participate, where applicable. I refer EVERYONE to the Forum Decorum. And in particular item #3.
