Sounds like people just don't want to state there name when asked. If some one has a opinion state it, if they feel their name isn't good enough to back there word then they either shouldn't make the statements or just act like a gentlman. just a thought, leaders lead from the front, and by example, not as a example.

Like I said in a previous post, this bulletin board should be run like the other military boards. It shouldn't rely on posting a name. This board shouldn't be run like a frat house or good ole boys network where everbody knows everybody. Focus on the message, not the messenger!

This is what is so great about the United States Coast Guard. We are NOT "...like the other military..." services. Honor, Respect and Devotion to Duty. Oh and yes, I do have a profile. Razz

Wray: according to this website, you need a court order to find my identify from the internet service provider. you have to show that i committed a crime hence you need a search warrant:

So, I heard a lot of structual analysis of this and that. IS THE BOAT SAFE? Just curious before I place it on my dream sheet.

I jusr read an article in which the CG said there was no question about the SHIP (not boat!) being seaworthy. The question was about its projected service life.

I read it on that other mil site.....

You know that impression you get and the respect you have when a man can look you in the eye when speaking to you? (A figure of speach on a message board, I know)

I can't give any credit or trust to anyone who can not man up and identify himself.

Respect is earned by the message that is presented. Not by the name. We are not the old Europe where royalty prevails and the name is more important then the message that is espoused.

Nothing to do with royalty. For many, if we were on a jury and a witness gave testimony but only from behind a curtain, it would taint my impression of their trustworthiness.

I, being an airdale, seem to remember us buying helicopters that were severly underpowered and only after years of problems, and "Deep Water" coming on line, did we start to rectify said problem. Could this be another purchase like that? Man, I hope not. I like the idea of getting new ship/boats entirely. This polishing a turd mentality has gone on for all of my carreer and hopfully will come to some sort of an end. I know I polished and painted the turd of a 210 I was on an awful lot.

Sorry to come to the party so late but I read something in your post that brought back some mem's about our POS HH65's.
1. HF antennas kept breaking off
2. Turbines were coming apart in flight (shreading)

just to name 2.

I don't remember 210's being junk but I wasn't around in the mid 60's when the 210's were built. I do remember the 270's not having the best "rumors" when they first came out. They always reminded me of Chevy's El-Comeno's

I was in a 270 and even as I want to say words not kind to the ship, I am just going to say that it did have plenty of problems. Anything from crankcase explosions, turbo seizing up, art crane breaking, EVAP not working for weeks, AC units not working for weeks (same patrol by the way), Hangar door broken, expandable hangar not able to expand, sewage issues. I could really go on and on. Just wanted to say that maybe the CG likes to get ships that are not 100% so all of us engineers have a job. But as always I could be wrong. Later.

Upside down? Look at the link below and the COMDT's pic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thad_W._Allen

Then look back at the pic on the first page.

The question is still out there, are the ribbons in the wrong order?

No they are not in the wrong order. The picture on the first page has three ribbons that are not in the wikipedia photo.

In the first picture, the Global War On Terrorism Service Medal and Armed Forces Service Medal are correctly placed between the National Defense Service Medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal. The DOT 9/11 Medal is also correctly placed between the CG Commendation Medal and the CG Achievement Medal.
