I noticed during my last couple of over-flights of the Pascagoula area -- that it appears the vessel is back out of the water, sitting in dry dock.

It also looks as if the USCG paint markings have been covered over with fresh white paint. Any ideas or updates?

I know the last time I drove by the paint was very yellow. Maybe, the paint job was not accepted and is having to be redone?

All is still good.
I will not talk about the reason here.

Did you happen to get any pics to post?

Since "Internet Release Not Authorized" appears to be in play here, maybe our resident marine engineering team can provide some theories based upon photo recon.

No, sorry -- I didn't. I was at 5500 feet coming back from AIRSTA NOLA when I looked down and saw the vessel. The camera wasn't handy at that point.

Weather permitting, I'll most likely do a low altitude flight over that area this coming week. I'll make an attempt to snap a few pics if I can -- unless posting such on-line would be in bad form based upon the previous post...

Larry, why won't you? Is there something to hide?

Well Larry, all "will be good". Remember Admiral Allen said the NSC's acceptance trial "will be a success". So therefore they "can't" fail in the trials and any certifications.

Jonesy,

Please show LMuldowney the same respect you would expect others to give you...

Larry says "I will not talk about the reason here" ...to me it means, as a moderator, enough said on the subject.

Tim;
When you say 'enough said' does that mean I shouldn't add:

"It's might not be the genral publics, our adversaries or other companies darn bussiness"

or

"I will not discuss things I do not have personal reponsiblility for on an open forum"

or

"I have only heard rumors myself, so I won't spread them"

or

"Are you kidding me, we mention anything and the conspiracy nazis will take it out of context, twist it and say we must be welding Jimmy Haffa up in the skegs"

Flyandscuba, you said it was painted all white again? So they had to do a repaint on it? Not being a boat guy but really looking forward to this one hitting the water, what is the date the Bertholf is suppose to do it's sea trials?

Moto,

Yes, when it was in the water -- it had the full paint job. A couple of weeks ago when I first noticed it back in dry dock, it had been painted all white. Today, it appears to have the markings applied again. No idea on sea trials, operational service, etc.

I'm a little curious what type of monster ship is being built next to the dry dock. Looks pretty interesting so far. Looks a bit big to be an Aegis Cruiser or something along that idea.

Is it me, or does "Hull #3" appear about 30% larger than the other two? -Jeff

It almost looks like hull #3 is being started on the other side of the crane next to hull #2. The hull next to the drydock could be another DDG or LPD.

Secret Squirrel has informed me the ship is back in drydock to add 5"/62's fore and aft and a variety of missile launchers on every other horizontal surface. The helicopters will be removed.....need space for more weapons!
