Can anyone tell me how long it usually takes to get a retirement reqquest approval?.........hq wise

Chief, I am presently going through the retirement process. I sent my letter to HQ and received retirement approval about one month later. Good luck.

Took mine over a year and a half...when I asked why, I was told because my command had not submitted OER's on me. Pointed out that I did my part and asked how to rectify the situation.

Great answer: First, I notify COMDT that my command has not done my OER's. Second, COMDT notifies my command that they have not done my OER's. Third, my command does my OER based on a complaint by me to COMDT. Yep, they looked great, even made a comment about my inability to meet deadlines (never missed one, always turned in the work on the date due)...always wondered what COMDT thought about their ability to meet deadlines.

Anyway, got them to get off the "pot" and got my letter very quickly. Got out when I had wanted to.

Was Windy Walker the YNCM when you retired from 14th, or was it one of his successors? Just wondering.

I remember the name, but don't know why. I left in June 1994 (retired on 1 September 1994). Have a problem with names, not because I am old, just have always had a problem.
