Approaching the big 65 next summer, I know about Tricare for Life, but am not sure if I have to notify Social Security about medicare eligibility? their website says it's automatic if you're getting social security now but I have heard about problems getting set up. Any comments?

You have to have Medicare part B and make sure your DEERS are up to date, they should notify you 90 days prior to your eligibility, I have been on it since it started in 2001,works well for us. good luck.

Between Tricare for Life and Medicare it has worked great for us too. Still get to use all our doctors we have used for years.

First things first - you need to get your military ID renewed. I know it says "Indefinite" on the front but on the back there is a expiration date for medical.
To receive Tricare-for-Life you must have Medicare Part B. Medicare will send all the info. If you did not take Social Security yet, you'll have to pay for it monthly. If you are receiving early Social Security, they will automatically take out the cost of Part B.
Log on to Tricare4u.com to make sure that you're all set up for TFL to start paying as secondary. Or call 1-866-773-0404.
