Basic Training |
I am doing training for my station on this subject and I was wondering if there were any old salts here that was over there and wish to share their stories with me so I can include it in my presentation. Thanks.

The CG Historian site will give you quite a bit of info.
Also this link: http://www.aug.edu/~libwrw/ and this link http://usmilnet.com/smf/index.php?topic=6501.0 will give you more insight into our role over there. There are a few Nam vets that frequent the CG section of USMilnet.com too. |

You can also buy the DVD on the Coast Guard in Vietnam (called Coast Guard at War), which aired on Discovery's Military Channel. It's available on Amazon (or at least it was). We interviewed quite a few vets for that.

I went over there in 1970 on the Morgenthau. Came back in 1971.
http://mcweb.woodstock.edu/~eugenet/Morgenthau.html is a website that details our trip. |

Two very good sites about the operations and crews. The second one is the comms tapes between Androscoggins CIC and other 82' cutters/Navy Swift boats during a supply trawler attempted infiltration. They lost.
