I submitted my retirement letter two months ago, and I still have not received my retirement orders. I was informed the delay was a result of the "new electronic retirement system and personnel being unfamiliar with the new database." I have to raise the BS flag on the response.
According to the PERSMAN, it usually takes 4-6 weeks.
For those who recently retired, how long did it take you to receive your orders?
Andy, certainly you don't think those at HQ would "BS" you, do you?
Their next line will be... "needs of the service"...
Congratulations on your retirement.. you will love it.... just not all the cold weather there in VA. (my wife is from Hampton.. she now has that Florida sand in her shoes.. will never go back to VA..)
I put my retirement request in on July 14, 2008 and received my retirement orders on Aug 2, 2008. I was impressed how fast they came in. Im not sure why you have such a long delay.
The difference probably has a LOT to do with the humans that have to put fingers and opinions on it. For one thing, one of the ones above is OPM, the other is EPM.
Appreciate the congrats, but I won’t enjoy retirement for long. Accepted a job position overseas and will be residing in the desert.
What is with you guys.. you get a nice retirement then take off for the sand box... My buddy Captain Mike Jett is over there now as well..(FOR A YEAR!) I don't care what they pay me.. at this point in my life, and my families, I'm stayin' here...
Shoot me an e-mail and let me know who you will be working for...
Wray... P.S. Yes on the BS & needs of the service...
If the jobs you are talking about are in Iraq be careful which company you go to work for. I spent a year there working for KBR. If you have any questions contact me via e-mail at stanrobbins@hotmail.com.
