has anyone else heard that if hillary clinton is elected president shes going to try to disband the marine corps altogether.....for those who do not know what disband means it means shes going to try to make the marine corps non-existent. i mean if shes going to do this if i am correct all 200 members of congress have to agree with her? and i think they will tell her to screw off somewhere because weve been around even since before this country was a country 10,november 1775, and i think that she would be hard pressed to disband the corps especially without our permission.
hints, suggestions please  would be greatful if there's a lawyer in the house hehepfc ward |

It will never happen,for one thing congress already passed the bill to increase our size,she cant step into the middle of that and stop it,also if she did that then she would have to face the fact that she herself would be responsible for 180,000 people being put on unemployment,and when you figure that the congress has already passed another bill that is down sizing the Navy and the Air force..is the army going to do all the fighting??nope

Where did you hear this rumor? There was a rumor floating around about 30 years ago to integrate the Marine Corps with the Army, but this one is new...

Truman already tried. He insulted the Corps and his cowardly generals claimed that we were outmoded right before Inchon, the most successful Amphibious landing in history and the action where we knocked North Korea out in one stroke.

Read a book, First to Fight. The issue about the disbanding the Corps has raise its head every 20 years or before each war, then in the war, Marines stand out in valor.

I know when she was in the White House the first time she treated members of the Military like crap, so I would fully expect the same if she gets in there again. |

Now this rumor may have some validity. There has always been a Left Oriented agenda to do away with the USMC. As far back as the 30s, and even into the late 90s funds for various projects, equipments, and training have always been at risk. The constitution garantees USMC presence, as Naval Troops, so to actually do away with the USMC is not constitiona. However, the threat to de fund, to de emphasize is always there. Hillary, if elected, which I doubt, would certainly set back the USMC by the Exec order method. USMC folks and thier supporters need to remember the other Dems in the past who wanted to do this. This is not a new thing, and is, sad to say, possible. end LKA CWO USN ret. |

No where in the Constitution guarentees a USMC presence. An excerpt of Aricle I, Section 8 of the Constitution says: The Congess has the power: To declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water; To raise and support armies, but no appropriation of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years; To provide and maintain a navy; To make rules for the government and regulation of the land and naval forces; To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions; To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the United States, reserving to the states respectively, the appointment of the officers, and the authority of training the militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress; Don't confuse the Constitution with Title 10, Subtitle C of the US Code. |

I doubt there is much she could do with even the executive order method. In 1952 Public Law 416 (started out as Douglas-Mansfield bill) was passed by congress established our peace time active duty strength 3 div, 3 wings, made the Marine Corps a seperate service from the navy ( yet still in the navy department) and gave our Commandant equal membership in the JCS.
And as much as Truman wanted to be rid of us he signed it when it was passed in front of him. Now this is just sea lawyer comprehension, but in order for that law to be changed (increase/decrease,"disbandment", whatever the case may be) it would in fact first need to be presented and passed by congress. So that bill in effect "guaruntees" we will have a Corps as long as the majority of congrass wishes us to. Unless they give the presidant sweeping powers to rewrite all laws and amendments and what have you. |

She'd never be able to do it. She might not want the marine corp, but the people do. It wouldnt be the first time that someone tried to get rid of the corp but no ones ever let it happen. it would be impossible to carry out.

Hitlery and Bareback Hussein Hobomba would both be very bad for the military and the country. If Hobomba wins, OJ SImpson will probably be the Attorney General.
