So who's backing Romney? Chance to give us(me) the scoop on the GOP and DEMS. Way I see it, Paul is a throw away vote or a vote for Dems. I will not vote for Hillary or Obama, McCain has gone in the head and selling out for his last chance for Prez. Plus McCain reminds me of Dole run, just GOP throwing a bone to the old man.
It appears Romney may be the best overall choice for the GOP. McCain is strong on security and supports the military, but his liberal voting record on everything else I have problems with.
I agree.... I think McCain is farther left than Hillary but maybe to the right of Obama. Romney is appearing to be the lesser of evils to me but I doubt if he could beat either Dem in the general election.
McCain has a chance of beating the Dem candidate but that is no reason to vote for him.
At this point, if Romney is not on the ticket, I see no one to waste my gas on driving to the polls.
I don't think Huckabee's 2nd wind will amount to much - but I guess it does remain to be seen. He got WV because McCain and Paul delegates ended up giving Huckabee their votes more or less to block Romney from winning WV.
I like Romney best as well. He's got a good record re: the economy, immigration, he believes we need to stay in Iraq, waterboarding is OK and he wants to keep the terrorists at Gitmo.
Problem w/McCain, although good on the war on terror and fighting in Iraq, when it actually comes down to "home turf" - here - he sucks. He would have the Gitmo prisoners at Leavenworth, at which point they get Habeus (sp?) corpus and will be tried pretty much as civilians, rather than the enemy combatants that they are. As far as ecomony, he's already voted No on tax cuts in 2001 and 2003 (or somewhere around there), but now says he did so only because there were no corresponding budget cuts. However, at the time, he just said it was because it was giving the rich a tax cut. W/re: immigration, he says he gets the message -the wall first. However, when asked if he became president and his McCain/Kennedy bill came for a vote, would he vote for it. He refuses to answer the question and only says it won't come back. Had he really "heard" the people, he should have said no. I guess the only part he heard was we want a wall. Anyway, aside from screwing us on the Judges, and forming an alliance w/the Dems, McCain/Feingold - where average citizens cannot do commercials, etc. (like the swiftboaters)on presidential candidates 60 days before the election (thereby limiting free speech, etc.,) his strong point is the fact that if he becomes President, I believe Iran will say we've got another strong military president and will chill for awhile - like they did once Reagan got in. McCain says he learned a lot and will appoint judges similar to Alito, etc., and will make permanent the tax cuts, etc., will cut corporate taxes, etc., I just hope once he gets in the White House, that he will stick w/what he says on the "road to the White House." If so, it'll be OK. Not perfect, not by a long shot, but we won't be totally ****ed up and may be able to survive the 4 years until someone better comes along. Oh, that's another thing - global warming. He wants to spend billions of dollars fighting global warming. Anyway, there's lots more that McCain sucks on, but I have to get to work.
