Why? It is no different than the right wing propaganda that is usually spouted here.

You don't think there are currently serving Marines who feel the same way? You are sadly mistaken. There were plenty of Marines in Iraq who felt exactly like he does. It did not, however, stop them from doing their job.

What he doesn't realize is exactly what some others are trying to explain to him: once you are there and people are shooting at you, survival instinct kicks in. Politics were often debated back at the camps, once you left the wire no one gives a crap about politics.

Why get so worked up over some kid who thinks he knows everything? Wasn't everyone on this board the same way at that age? It didn't seem like he violated the TOS to me.

Quite actually I'm surprised we haven't seen more questions like this over the years but then again 9/11 happened so our general society has pretty much backed our war efforts until now.

Except for his disrespect towards Marines, I thought it was a healthy conversation where other Wannabes gained from it was well.

I'm not so sure if it was left-wing or what. Some people have moral dilemmas to overcome what they believe that they might encounter when they're in uniform. Better that they figure it out beforehand rather than after they're in. I meant all that I said in a post on that thread. Especially in the early 70s when it became clear that winning in Vietnam was not a priority of our government. So who wanted to be last one killed. Unfortunately, as I recall, it was one our our own.
