Anyone know the general 'wait-time' nowadays to get SF as guaranteed job? I DEPd in on 20090730 and really want SF as it is my first choice. But I have also listed a grip of other jobs, I think about 10-14. And i still have yet to get a guaranteed job. Im not signing and open gen contract, unless i really have to. At this point I just want to get my foot in the door. But I would prefer a 6yr contract.

Dude I waited 6-7 months DEP. I went open General. and tried everything possible NOT to get security forces. And well Im SF now.

I signed up open general for 4 years, once you get to basic, and they tell you your gonna be SF they will let you change to a 6 yr contract. Thats what I did, and got E3 after tech school was over. But I'd recommend 4 years, because you can re enlist and get your bonus sooner. If you plan on makking it a career, then do 4 year incriments, thats more bonuses.

Getting E3 after tech school doesn't mean jack. When you get to your first base, everyone will still know your a FNG, and you'll still be broke all the time.
