So I am married to a dual Iraqi/UK citizen.
I am supposed to be deploying to Iraq as part of a 365 PTT, right now the question is all the way up at ACC SF Staff....due to her having a huge extended family in the district we would be operating in... So, is this normal? Like for it to go that far? Right now, I am at the point, where they can go screw themselves and just pull me off of it, if they are going to question my loyality to the US. |

Nothing is unusual. This isn't the US military's first rodeo with "war brides."
And how about it has nothing to do with your loyalty. What happens if the bad guys find out they can possibly get to you, or potentially get to you, by bumping off, in not real nice ways, members of your wife's "huge extended family in the district we (you) would be operating in." And what if momma was sh@t hammering you on the phone every time one got bumped off. How do you think that would play? Take a chill pill and think about the folks that got to go with you. It aint all about you brother. |

i know an iraqui kid in Sf don't know if his fam is down there or not but hes been and gone.
the uk part is nothing but you need to sit back and relax about things taking time on her iraqi end of things, as mentioned it could be dangerous for the other memebers of your team and the reprocussions on you if they question your loyalty then thats in their own heads, they are questions if its going to put you in more danger or the other memebers of your team in more danger compromising situations should be avoided if this is the root cause. its more then just you to consider best of luck. |

As the others have stated, it's not you; it's her.
Apart from the reasons already given, if she's not an American citizen then they don't have a handle on her. When they were looking at me for the B-2 program, they gave me a lot of grief for my wife not being a U.S. citizen (she's Spanish). If she'd have been willing to get naturalized, the problems would have gone away, but she didn't want to. I ended up getting the job anyway, but man did I have to jump through some hoops. The point is, they're being professionally paranoid. And that's not necessarilly a bad thing. Look at it from their point of view: they can always find another cop to take your spot and not have to run the same risk, even if it is a low percentage one. It's not personal, it's business. |
