Click here to check it out online. Viking Tactics Original Sling Made for collapsible stock (AR-15 type rifles). The Viking Tactics Sling is quick, versatile, dynamic and most importantly simple! The VTAC sling is instantly adjustable to improve your shooting position, allows shooting from weak side shoulder, secures the carbine during handgun transitions, and allows hands-free movement in difficult surroundings. Unlike most slings, the Viking Tactics slings are fully adjustable while in use. You won’t have to take a break from the action to adjust your sling. The Viking Tactics sling isn’t just a carry strap, it’s full range of adjustability will enhance retention when you need your hands free, it is also one of the only tactical slings that can be used as an adjustable shooting sling. A tight sling will enhance any shooting position. Viking Tactics Wide Padded Sling <---- I used this one in green. Added comfort for heavier firearms. Same great features as original sling. The Viking Tactics, Inc. Wide (padded) Sling was developed after listening to feedback from our customers. Customers with heavier firearms who wanted a wider, more comfortable sling with the same great features of the original Viking Tactics, Inc. sling. The Viking Tactics Wide Sling is made with a shoulder strap with closed cell foam for increased comfort. The forward adjustable portion of the sling remains the same as the original sling, giving you quick, easy adjustments from any position. Click here for instructional video by Kyle Lamb. Same instruction, different video. Stonewall's review: On PSD missions, as a cop, as a grunt and now as a National Guard Security Forces member, I've tried all sorts of slings, to include not using one. Through the years I've found myself going back to a 2-point sling. For a couple of years I used a single point sling on my personal M4 and found it convenient, but at the end of the day, not so practical. The worst part about the particular sling I used was that it had a fastex clip which made it easy to attach/detach, but it also made it easy to accidentally fall off during various operations. Recently during my annual training at Alpena's CRTC in Michigan, I tested out the Viking Tactics (VTAC) 2-point padded sling that has the ability to make quick adjustments. I'm a bit of a wuss so I opted for the padded version, which costs a few bucks more. Our training included several CQB scenarios with hostage rescue and the need to go "hands on" with bad guys. I watched as some of my brothers using single point slings wrestled with their weapons almost as much as they did with the bad guys. Not only that, but their muzzles often slammed on the ground or into the dirt when taking a knee and they didn't have positive control. I also witnessed, on two occasions, rifles detaching from the fastex buckle. The VTAC sling allowed me to quickly adjust (cinching it in) to my body and giving me two free hands, all the while having positive control of the weapon (it basically sat on my chest). This was good for more than just handling EPWs, it was good for anytime when I needed 2 hands. During our road march I cinched it down to take some of the weight off of my arms. I think it would be especially good for medics or Aid & Litter teams. Climbing in and out of trucks or up a ladder, this sling, once again, becomes as versatile as necessary. Is it worth the money? Yes, absolutely. |

Sort of a side question, but on the same subject; Stone, do you have any tactical sling suggestions for a Mossberg 590 Persuader with an M4 style collapsible stock?
Would you just stick with the same type as used on the M4 (such as the one your presented here), or go with something specific for a shotty? |

I have a Remington 870 and Mossburg 500, and I've used both throughout my career. I don't think I've ever seen anything other than a standard 2-point sling on a shotgun. Neither of my shotguns have slings and I haven't thought about adding one either.
This isn't to say you shouldn't, I'm just saying I don't use or pay attention to shotguns much. However, I can't see why a regular sling wouldn't work, so in this case, yes, I'd use the VTAC sling that I reviewed above. |

Thanks for the useful info as always.
I'm getting ready to pickup an AR in the next couple weeks. I'll probably hit you up to get your opinion (before purchasing) once I narrow it down to a couple models. |
