I was searching the internet and couldn't find anything about Paul Harvey's son dying in the Air Force. Fact or Fiction? Also, what WAS the legend about Paul Harvey's Christmas sign off during the Viet Nam war?

TROJANII you were close or maybe right depending on who tells it. The legend was; That his son was a SP working the flight line humping BUFFs. One night, on mid's a snow storm/mini blizzard came up, and the Wing King called it bad enough so everything on the flight line was pulled in. So the 'SP Area Sup.'hopped into a crew bus and went to get all the cops off Humping posts and any that did not have heaters in their shacks. Well after picking everybody up, some how he was able to find his way ( it was a total "white-out), after everyone was in the bus, he did a head count and found 1 cop missing, Amn Harvey! they tried calling on the radios, no answer. He tried driving back through the posts, but they could not see and the Flt Chief told them to exit the flight line before they hit a plane or something else. (Now this is where myths differs One said he was found frozen to death in the wheel well of a BUFF, number two was he was found under a light generator (??) that was running trying to stay warm from heat. Anyway he was suppose to have died. As Paul Harvey would say; "And now The Rest of the Story". The Harveys were too have been, very peed off at the Air Force. So on the Christmas show sign-off he would give his hope for peace, and to protect the men & women in Viet Nam. Then he was to have said; ' Mothers with sons & daughters over in Viet Nam, be gladd that they are there and not at Ellsworth AFB.' I don't think it's true because their is a Paul Harvey Jr. who has taken over his fathers show. You Are Not FORGOTTEN!

From what I was able to find, JR was the only son he had, and is still alive.

I was stationed there 1968-69 as an SP and saw a ghost walk on the wings of a B-52. Everyone told me it was Paul Harvey's son who had died on the flight line during a blizzard. I spent 8 - 10 hours on that flight line in blizzards and never saw a shack. We stood in it unprotected. They said the ghost walks the flight line to startle the airmen so they don't fall asleep and die like he did. I also was told that Paul Harvey used to say on his show; "Feel sorry for the guys in Viet Nam, but pray for the guys at Ellsworth".
