I'm looking for input on the current body armor and how it wears. I've worn it for about a week with the plates in, and it feels like it really starts to pull down on the shoulders. I was thinking about starting an effort here in the research labs for a light weight shoulder brace insert that would distribute that weight more evenly (lighter plates are always in the works, so I'm not addressing that). Has anyone else that has worn the BA system for extended periods felt this, or is this an empty fix? Speak freely. I don't want to fix what isn't broken.

A lighter plate that provides the same/better protection would always be great. It's just one of those things we have to deal with until someone at AFRL comes up with a better idea. Big Grin

It's absolutely critical that the armor is adjusted properly. just as with the gas mask, misadjustment can fatigue specific muscles.

Of course, there's always a "break in" time too. After a few weeks, I didn't notice much beyond the bulky feeling.
