Welcome all! This thread was the idea of another poster, and thought it was a great one, so here it is: This is the thread where all us SF troops can introduce ourselves, and tell a little about us. Newbies are welcome as well, so don't be shy. I'll start it off, even though those that have been here awhile know all this already:

I am a SSgt in SF, stationed at Ramstein AB in Germany (currently on leave in the States) where I do security for the USAFE Commander. I have been in the AF for a tad over 5 years, and my prior assignment was at FE Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming where I did ART/SRT, FSC, as well as a year in a back office job.

I am married with a 2 and half year old daughter, and am my wife and I are originally from the seacost of New Hampshire (Portsmouth area). She works in the medical records area of hospitals and doctor's offices. I am currently 3 semesters away from my BA degree in Criminal Justice/Sociology from Park University, and am possibly looking at getting out of the AF at the end of my enilstment in 2007.

I think that covers it...NEXT!
Big Grin

I'm an A1C currently stationed at Rhein-Main AB in Germany. I'vebeen in the AF almost around 20 months. My prior assignment was at Minot AFB in North Dakota. I was Response Force leader out there.

Had to extend to 2007 so I could get this Germany assignment, undecided on whether or not I'll stay in beyond my first term.

I served in the US Air Force from 1982 - 1988 as a Security Police/Specialist (as it was called back then) and was stationed at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. I was assigned to the 44th Missile Security Squadron where I performed the duties normally associated with “missile field duty”. With the exception of a short time on a Special Duty Assignment as an Alert Force Controller at the Bomber Alert Facility at Ellsworth I spent my entire time in the missile field.

After an Honorable Discharge I went to work with the Dothan Airport Police Department in Dothan Alabama which I did for 6 1/2 years. After 6 years in the Air Force and the 6 1/2 years at the Dothan Airport I started getting “burned out” on the job and also my Father needed some help at his Blueberry Farm in Alpine Alabama, so I quit my job and moved to be closer to him and started a new career in the field of retail. I've worked for Wal-Mart, Sears Termite & Pest Control, Sherwin-Willimas. Now working for at Lowe's in Oxford Alabama.

My wife (who is from Jonesboro Arkansas) and I currently live in Anniston Alabama. We’re only about 20 minutes from the Talladega Superspeedway where they hold this “little’ race a couple of times a year. I’ve spent most of my life in Alabama but have lived in Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Georgia, and of course South Dakota.

I have two wonderful sons, one 5 year old and one 10 months old. (The 10-month-old was born 2 months premature and had to spend a month in the hospital at UAB in Birmingham Alabama. Although to see him now you would never know he was a premature baby.) The 5 year old is almost as tall as I am already and I’m only about 5’ 4”.

I haven’t been posting here to long now but have really been enjoying sharing some of my stories, advice, and warped sense of humor. I hope that I have or will help some of those who are thinking about joining that may have questions that they ask here. My thanks to all who have served, are currently serving, and for those who are about to serve or thinking about serving.

Soon-to-be A1C in 144th SFS (part of 144th FW out of Fresno ANGB, CaANG). Just waiting on a MEPS run, then in I go.

One science class away from an AA/Police Science, probably use my GI Bill/State Tuition Asst. for a BA in either Criminology or Emergency Medical Service Administration (I'm also a licensed EMT).

Prior experience in Sea Cadets (C/ABH2--E-5 plane captain for non-Navy types), CAP (2LT/Emergency Services Officer-Search & Rescue), and CA Basic Reserve Police Academy.

Also relative newbie to Military.com, glad to be here and happy to see such a great site for the services to come together and share info/ideas.

Well I'm not in SF, but I am in Law Enforcement so I guess I'll reply too.

I spent 8 years active duty as a Navigator, and now I'm a reservist. I worked in the private sector before coming on active duty, because after Desert Storm the military had a drawdown, and they didn't want me right away after ROTC. Then a very brief stint the private sector again, before getting my first LE job with the feds.

I spent most of my active time at Offutt AFB. However, we had a very high TDY rate and saw much of the world while travelling 120- 180 days a year.

I currently work in federal law enforcement as GS-1811 Criminal Investigator (aka Special Agent) with a very small agency. Interesting work, wide variety of cases, a little fun, lots of paperwork. I've had some interaction with SFS, SFOI, and OSI while working some cases, so I've had a little look into what you folks do.
