The short answer to your question is we don't do that anymore. A few folks do, but in the main...we got out of that business.

If you want to do corrections, go to the Army or Navy.

As noted, we don't do anymore...

...and more to the point, I would hardly consider Bucca AF corrections...USDB, Miramar and Charleston Brig are corrections (with small AF contingents)

yeah guy in my shop had to escort a kid to Charleston for lockup. He said there was an E-5 from every branch waiting like a bunch of TI's standing at parade rest at BMT for the bus to pull up.They were all up in that kid, had him shitting bricks. The military prison isnt no joke thats for sure.

Did Lackland close up shop? Basic didn't have have squat on the stuff we did there. And as far as Bucca goes...it's a damned shame. A lot of Amn learned a lot there. Not all of it was from the Army or Navy folks either.

To the O.P....you'll go through a course once you reach the rank of SrA. I went through when I was an A1C, but I was a tad different. We used to go through the Marine Course at Lackland. Not too sure if things have changed all that much, but I worked with other bases that were sending folks through LAFB about a year ago. It is nothing like Civilian Corrections...if you have done that before. Smile

I did civilian corrections for about a year. I was 2 weeks out of the CO academy and know that I would only be there until something better came along. I hated being a babysitter for a bunch of grown men.

A little truth in advertising might be in order...in a careerfiled of 35K (25K active, 10K ARC, ANG and IMA) less than 1% do corrections on a good day.

Not real good odds of getting the job...not impossible...just not good odds. Like I said before...its one of those things we mostly quit doing...
