I remember in one of your post about you have some ravens in your flight. I was wondering what were the pt standards for being a raven?

They don't have to meet any special PT standards that I'm aware of once qualified as a Raven, but prior to going to Raven school, I believe our Raven NCOIC makes sure they can meet the running standard for Raven school and more than pass the Army PT test, which I believe is the standard at Raven school. Not 100% sure on that, but basically they make sure you are very physically fit prior to heading off to school.

Not my fault the fitness standard is not enforced. It must be a we want you to feel special standard rather than a actual performing the duties functional fitness requirement??? Eek

Raven’s supposedly must demonstrate compliance of having physical fitness annually (according to their own policies). The fitness standard is based on a Army physical fitness standard. It is the same fitness prerequisite required to get trained to become a Raven.

One of the other prerequisites is successfully complete 5-skill level upgrade. So Black4Track may have plenty of time to get into shape if they don't have a 5-skill level.

As I said in my statement, "not that I'm aware of". I am not a Raven and only familiar with what our Raven NCOIC has told me when trying to recruit me (up until I had back surgery a few months back).

Our Ravens may very well keep up with the Raven PT requirement, but since I'm not in the loop I explained what information I did know. We've got a pretty good Raven NCOIC so I'm guessing if there is an annual standard to meet, they meet it.

I read the “not aware of”, but I was poking fun at there should be some observable of being fit to the higher annual must demonstrate standard. There is a required higher Raven fitness standard that differs from the Air Force Standard. i.e., as a group the Raven members when looked at should all have ready to perform duty appearance of being the leanest, meanest Army fitness ready fighting machine SF members compared to the SF doing typical security duties who only are required to sustain Air Force Fitness standards IAW AFI 10-248 Fitness Program.

The Raven standard is based on the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT).

The APFT is a three event (sit-ups, pushups, and 2-mile run) assessment. The Army requires a standard of 60 points per event or better to pass the annual fitness assessment.

Unless changed, the Raven standard is 70 points or better required for each event. The Raven's on your base are expected to meet this higher standard. Although the Raven fitness standard says 70 regardless of gender, the must meet the male gender standard is not specified, which was the other contributing poking fun reference to functional fitness.

FYI, no need to guess any longer, the Official USAF Security Forces, Lackland AFB website has the following in the public domain: AFI 31-104, The Air Force RAVEN Program. Cool
