Simple question I hope. I have 4+ yrs of active duty, 4 regular reserve years and 3 IRR years. I am going back on active duty in January. I have looked at the DoD Financial Management Regulation 7000.14-R vol. 7a on this but it contridicts itself. When I go back on active duty will my TIS for pay include my IRR time; will I get paid by the 10 yr scale or the 8 year scale not counting IRR?

I have talked to people in the same situation and half say they get paid and half don't?

Thanks for any clarifications!

Your IRR time counts towards pay so you will get the larger of the two.

All contracted time counts toward Time in Service & Time in Grade.

Just rechecked mine and I am being paid for my IRR time... but I was released early from the IRR for some reason so it is only a few months rather than the three years it should have been. Who knows?

Sorry I wasn't more specific before. If you have 4 years and 1 day of active duty time then your time in the IRR will count towards time in service for pay.

Yup, counts for time in service for pay.... but not towards retirement, unless you were getting a min of 50 points a year.
